The goal of Activate Balance is to connect all the domains of your life to better serve your needs. Let’s attend to personal, professional, social, and community needs to strengthen your path forward. The best therapy is a collaborative process between client and counselor.

The Therapeutic Process

Therapy is different for every client. Whether it’s your first time seeking treatment or you’ve experienced a variety of providers over time we have to build a process that will work for us. With all clients I recommend planning to spend at least one hour outside of treatment working on your goals (e.g., journaling, meditating…) for every one hour spent in treatment.

The First Sessions: Intake

The first handful of sessions are part of the intake process. In this time I ask a broad range of questions to get a sense of who you are and how you’ve reached the point of entering treatment. This can feel redundant or unnecessary to experienced clients, but is vital to my understanding you. This is also your opportunity to ask questions to help you feel most comfortable moving forward together.
