Drew Scott, Ph.D.
I am a licensed psychologist with a private practice based in San Diego, California. I have a strong specialty in treating adults with a range of mental health issues, and working with diverse populations on topics from sexual and gender minorities, processing grief and loss, and working with individuals and couples on relationship concerns. I also have extensive experience working with people who experience mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.
I see counseling as a collaborative process where I bring information about human behavior and you bring expertise about what works well for you. Through this collaboration we can set goals, including improving relationships, mood, and coping strategies. I use a range of interventions and supports, including humor, homework, and handouts. As a Stanford University trained, licensed clinical psychologist, I have over 20 years of experience providing direct counseling services. I started on a telephone counseling and crisis hotline before pursuing a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a Ph.D. in Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology at UC Santa Barbara. I’ve worked at George Washington University, a mental health focused nonprofit, and served as Director of Counseling for four years at a medical and health sciences graduate school.
